SUBJECT: ANNUAL REPORT — LOUISVILLE YOUTH ADVISORY BOARD
DATE: APRIL 22, 2014
and day of event logistics. Support from other school organizations is gathering steam,
as many groups have committed to help with the event, including NHS, NetZero, FHS,
and student councils.
The March volunteer event was the St. Paddy's Day Dinner for seniors at the
Recreation Center, where YAB members served food and helped with set up and clean
up.
April 2014:
The Monarch High School vs. Fairview High School Eco Smackdown will be on April
15th and we hope it will be a huge success!
WHAT WORKED WELL FOR YOUR BOARD THIS PAST YEAR?
This year the Youth Advisory Board did an excellent job of planning an event from
conception to implementation. They worked well with delegating tasks, following up, and
communicating with other organizations, administrations and local businesses.
WHAT DID NOT WORK WELL FOR YOUR BOARD THIS PAST YEAR?
This year, more than in years past, it seemed that the meetings were rather rushed and
altogether too short. It may be worth considering having the Youth Advisory Board
meetings for the next term start a half hour earlier (at 6:30pm instead of 7pm) to allow
for more time for planning and discussion.
LIST PLANS /GOALS FOR NEXT YEAR:
• Promote public awareness of YAB
• Continue to provide volunteer opportunities for Louisville Youth
• Encourage youth to voice their opinions regarding the City of Louisville
• Continue to network with and support other boards and departments within the
City of Louisville (City Council, Parks & Rec., Planning, Cultural Council, Library,
etc.)
• Advise city government, when possible, on issues affecting the youth within our
community
• Recruit a diverse group of new members for the next school year to fill openings.
IN WHAT AREAS DO YOU NEED CITY COUNCIL INPUT /FEEDBACK?
We would like to invite the City Council to recognize our outgoing members for their
outstanding contributions to the Youth Advisory Board.
David Andrews
Karen Buri
Caelis Hanna
Brooke Hubbard
Kaylix McClure
Katie McQuie
Eliza Miller
Bonnie Schrag
Mitchell Waters
Tyler Waters
Joi Wu
CITY COUNCIL COMMUNICATION
4
