Louisville Cultural Council
President's Notes for May, 2014 meeting:
Park Hill Brass concert at Arboretum, progress report:
• Jackie Victor, one spokesperson for Park Hill Brass is applied for a $500 grant from
CU from their music performance funds which should be awarded later this month and
Park Hill Brass has held the date for us.
• I contacted Mike Frontczak about the possibility of seeking a contribution from
whichever vendor does tree work at the Arboretum, but have not yet heard back.
Food Truck Ordinance
• The City Council has approved on first reading an ordinance which allows food trucks
associated with events reserved inside the Louisville Center for the Arts in Memory
Square Parks.
SCFD Grant Review
• Susan, Denice and Suzanne attended the 8 minute review session in front of the
County Cultural Commission. Our request for project funds in addition to general
operating support is not permitted under the Boulder County guidelines and so we
agreed to withdraw that portion of our request. We did point out that our group
represents 18,000+ citizen /taxpayers and we are constrained by the rules from asking
for more than $3,000 since all of our administration is done by volunteers. Suzanne
will be investigating if /how we can structure our financial arrangement with the City of
Louisville to include expenses incurred on our behalf (particularly her salary /benefit
costs) in our financial profile to allow us to ask for additional dollars. In recent years,
our award has been $1500. Lafayette, with approximately 25,000 residents, received
$10,500 for 2012 according to the last published annual report for SCFD.
Report on LCA Governing Board committee meeting May 14, 2014
Update on Cast 3: report on May 15, 2014 Cast 3 Board Meeting.
