CITY OF LOUISVILLE, COLORADO <br />RESOLUTION N0. 3, SERIES 1975 <br />A Resolution concerning an Intergovernmental Contract for energy and <br />resource recovery from solid waste. <br />WHEREAS, the disposal of solid waste amounts to several thousand <br />tons of solid waste per day by landfilling without recovery of any residual <br />resources; and <br />WHEREAS, it has been demonstrated that energy can be produced from <br />solid waste, and that ferrous metals, paper, glass, and aluminum, copper <br />and other metals, can be recovered for reuse or recycling; and <br />WHEREAS, an Intergovernmental Contract between the Denver Regional <br />Council of Governments, certain municipal corporations and certain counties, <br />has been proposed; and <br />WHEREAS, the purpose of the Intergovernmental contract is (1) to <br />conduct an economic and feasibility analysis of energy and material recovery from <br />solid waste in the metropolitan Denver region; (2) to provide funding for the <br />analysis; and, (3) to provides for management of the project; and <br />WHEREAS, the Louisville City Council is of the opinion that this analysis <br />should be conducted in this tame of high energy costs and resource shortages, and <br />that the cost to the City of Louisville will be approximately $240.00. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE lT RESOLVED by the City Council of Louisville: <br />1. That the Mayor of the City of Louisville, is hereby authorized and <br />directed to negc-tiate and execute, on behalf of the City of Louis- <br />ville, an Intergovernmental Contract for analysis of energy and <br />resource recovery from solid waste with other minicipalities, <br />counties, and the Denver Regional Council of Governments, and <br />
