CITY OF LOUISVILLE <br />RESOLUTION NO. 21 <br />1976 <br />WHEREAS, conventional fuels used to generate electricity are <br />in limited supply while consumer demand for electricity is <br />increasing; and <br />WHEREAS, all alternative sources of producing electri- <br />city should be explored in providing for future energy <br />needs; and <br />WHEREAS, Proposition 3 is a constitutional amendment <br />which will Beverly restrict the use of nuclear power plants; <br />an d <br />WHEREAS, restricting the use of nuclear power alone <br />will not decrease consumer demand for electricity but rather <br />increase the use of coal fueled electrical power plants; and <br />WHEREAS, an increase <br />increases in strip mining <br />with attendant impacts on <br />the social and economic c~ <br />in coal producing regions <br />corridors; <br />in the use of coal will require <br />activity and transportation <br />air and water quality and on <br />~nditions of municipalities located <br />or adjacent to transportation <br />NOW, THERE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of <br />Louisville, Colorado, opposes and urges defeat of Proposition <br />3 on November 2. <br />~' <br />MAYOR <br />ATTEST: <br />\ ,_ <br />CITY CLERK <br />
