Building Code Board of Appeals <br />Meeting Minutes <br />March 20, 2014 <br />Page 2of 2 <br />Berry nominated Swanson to remain as Secretary and van de Liefvoort seconded the <br />nomination. Nomination was passed by all memberspresent. <br />DISCUSSION <br />Spring Open Government Training <br />Berry, Mancuso, Tew and van de Liefvoort are the Board members on the list for <br />SpringOpen Government Training which will beheld on April 24, 2014. <br />UPDATE <br />2012 Building Code AdoptionUpdate <br />None heard. <br />STAFF COMMENTS <br />2012 Code Adoption <br />The 2012 code waspassed by City Council and will go into effect on March 31, 2014. <br />Staff worked with Colorado Code Consulting on classes regarding the 2012 codes <br />changes which were open to the public. Berry and Van Peltasked about the turn out <br />for the classes.Giese and Swanson both stated there was a great turnout for both <br />the classes. Staff stated they were in the process of scheduling energy classes. <br />Giese stated in talks with builders,at the classes, they seemed unaware the <br />residential sprinkler code wasadopted with the 2012 codes. <br />Van Pelt asked Staff if fire access road code affected Building Department’s review of <br />permits and plans. Staff stated it did not affect Building Departments review, but <br />more Planning Department’s process in the PUD process. <br />Giese asked Staff where the calculations Public Works had used in the determination <br />of the size of water tap with sprinklers. Staff has spoken with Dave Horraswith <br />Westminster and they had found most cases did require a larger water tap. When <br />plans are submitted the calculations will be done by an engineer showing the <br />pressure and required tap size. <br />BOARD COMMENTS <br />None heard. <br />NEXT MEETING <br />May 15, 2014 <br />DISCUSSION ITEMS FORNEXT MEETING <br />Spring Open Government Training Update <br />ADJOURN <br />The meeting adjourned at 7:00PM. <br />
