Golf Course Advisory Board Minutes
April 21 2014

held prior to the start of tree work to explain the planting and tree
mitigation plan in order allay sensitivity to tree removal
c) Cost Estimates. LU provided a more detailed version of the work content
but has not updated the cost estimate. This is a concern as several
significant costs have changed and planning needs to be done on any
“Alternate Items” that can be covered within the cost limit approved by
Council.
Cost Increases
Green remediation requires a deeper work on the subsoil:
o
$300K
Re-seeding all fairways instead of just damaged areas:
o
unknown cost increase
Pond liners must be replaced on all ponds used for reclaimed
o
water (per report from Frobel Associates) rather than repaired:
unknown cost increase but, per Joe Stevens, similar work at the
pond by the ball park cost only $84K and FEMA is expected to
reimburse
Cost decreases
Work on the irrigation system is expected to come in $215K
o
under budget per Irrigation Technologies
Re-grassing using seed rather than sod: unknown saving
o
FEMA is expected to reimburse a significant part of the irrigation
o
replacement
d) Other Notes
Inspection reveals that approximately 65% of the irrigation system
was damaged by the flood and should be eligible for FEMA
reimbursement. The plan is to replace all components of the system
with the exception of the main pumping station. The option of using
submersible controllers is being reviewed; this is more expensive but,
as a mitigation, may be eligible for 100% FEMA reimbursement
Plans for the booster pump are also being reviewed. If replaced in-
situ, it would be raised above the flood plain and serviced via a
catwalk with appropriate visual screening from Dillon Road. It would
be more effective to relocate the pump to beside green #15: this is
outside the flood plain, could be integrated with the planned restroom
and would allow a smaller pump to be used. This may also integrate
with proposed increased use of reclaimed water by Avista, The
Springs along with other City facilities.

··
Parks and Recreation Department 749 Main Street Louisville, CO 80027
·
(303) 335-4735 FAX (303) 335-4738
www.louisvilleco.gov
Parks Recreation Senior Services O
Golf
