Discussion Item- Urban Design & Facilitation ServicesWayfinding
Presentation Presented by: Sean McCartney, Principal Planner
The Planning Department is planning a wayfinding program independent of our efforts
on OSAB. Sean visited our board to show us their current thinking.
First Sean shared the signs that were developed by the planning department of the City
for previous efforts. The same designer was used as the designer for open space signs.
City Council thought that that the signs were too dark and not visible enough so the
project was put on hold so a City wide design could be developed with a professional.
They have issued an RFP (late April, closed on May 9) and received 11 submittals from
different firms. Applicants will be interviewed in early June.
Their plan is to develop way finding for two districts, in two waves:
-First the McCaslin Blvd area (June 2014-March 2015)
-Second S. Boulder Rd area (Sept 2014-Jun 2015)
The goal of the project is for the professionals to provide:
-
Pictures of the signs
-
Map of sign locations
-
A consistent, cohesive city design look/brand
City of Louisville
Parks & Recreation Department 749 Main Street
Louisville CO 80027
303.335.4735 (phone) 303.335.4738 (fax) www.ci.louisville.co.us
