Library Board of Trustees <br />Meeting Minutes—DRAFT <br />May 8, 2014 <br />Page 4 of 4 <br />development and technology. The Library is collaborating with Human <br />Resources and IT on this project, which will also be promoted to City employees <br />as a benefit. <br />5)Staffing <br />Katie O’Brian, the new children’s librarian, will be starting May 12. <br />A Summer Reading Program intern in the Children’s Services division will <br />oversee teen volunteers; Rachel is a current employee who is just completing <br />her MLS. <br />Have hired an intern to catalog historic photos, which will be placed on the <br />Library website. <br />6)Building Modifications <br />We are moving ahead with the project room, which will be a good place for <br />activities such as Zome Tools; the plans are being finalized and the package will <br />be sent out for bid; construction is likely to begin during summer reading. <br />Audiovisual and electrical upgrades, to facilitate broadcast capabilities in the <br />meeting room, will also be taking place into summer reading. <br />7)State Grant <br />It appears that grant funding from state will be awarded again this year; last <br />year we were required to spend money on early literacy, but it is unclear as to <br />whether there will be similar requirements this year. <br />B.Upcoming Events <br />Beth noted the following: <br />The Jr. FIRST LEGO League (JrFLL) expo is on May 10; Jeannie Schuman is a <br />team leader and her team is making their weather-related presentation on <br />earthquakes. <br />Summer reading kicks off May 31. <br />On The Same Page (OTSP) programming will start in September. <br />X.Agenda Items for Next Meeting <br />A.Marketing the Library (Paul) <br />B.Little Library update <br />C.Library Foundation update <br />D.Community Food Share <br />E.Director’s Report <br />XI.Adjournment <br />Board President Jeannie Schuman adjourned the meeting at 7:36pm. <br />
