Executive Summary
Louisville, CO is approximately 7.9 square miles of land and water within Boulder
County located along U.S. 36 between Denver, CO and Boulder, CO. Louisville seeks to
develop a sustainable action plan for its operations that leverages energy efficiency, energy
conservation, renewable energy within a broader sustainability framework to promote economic
savings and business opportunities.
The first step in developing a sustainable action plan is to develop a baseline energy
inventory, which calculates energy use necessary to carry out daily life in a city. The accepted
measure of various forms of energy use is greenhouse gases because they are a measureable
byproduct of many activities and can be used to compare resource use intensity across
geographic locations, activities, and scales. The greenhouse gases included in this inventory are
carbon dioxide, methane, and nitrous oxide, represented as carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e).
The inventory provides a consolidated account of the emissions associated with carrying out
daily activities of living in Louisville.
GHG Emissions By Detailed Sector
Community-Wide Emi%sions: 37othoucand nit-0O2e
Per- Capita F.micsions_ 20.1 mt -0O2e
Food Purchase 1\ 11.296
Celrent ` 1.996
Fuel Piaduction `\v \ti 6.596
ii MSW -0.696
Water/Wastewater 0.896
.girTracd 7,‘" 6.4%
Diesel Vehicles 0.596
Gasoline Vehicles
P ublic Building Natural gas Use 0.196
Public BuildirgElectriatyUse 1.196
Co rare niay I ndis trial Natural Gas Use 5.296
Co nn etrial/I ridus trial Electricity Use
Reaadermal Natural gas Use 7.496
]te`cidea al Elect 6tyUJse 1196
-20 .00 0.00 20.00 40.00 6o.W 80.E0 100.03 120030
Thousand int-CCI 2e
18.,E
3096
3
5
