COMMUNICATION DIVISION VISION: <br />The Division will support city departments in their efforts to inform the community about <br />council and organizational priorities and to deliver accurate and timely emergency public <br />information during times of disaster or crisis through well - trained professionals who will <br />leverage current and emerging communication platforms including: web - based, social media, <br />broadcast and traditional media relations. <br />2013 -2018 Communication Plan Purpose: <br />• To guide the City of Boulder's Communication Division in supporting organization and <br />council priorities. <br />• To integrate and coordinate communications among all city departments and divisions <br />• To maximize trust with residents and businesses <br />• To promote the organization's vision and values <br />• To promote the organizational reputation as one of innovative, leading edge, helpful, <br />collaborative and transparent. <br />• To maximize the city's communication effectiveness by coordinating messages across a <br />variety of existing and developing platforms. <br />Objectives & Outcomes: <br />• To cultivate and encourage public participation in city government <br />• To create a coordinated, one - Boulder approach to the communications <br />process that ensures efficient, effective, responsive and consistent city <br />communications <br />• To position the City of Boulder's communication platforms and tools <br />as the most accurate source for city government information <br />• To engage and inform the community about city programs, services <br />and council decisions effectively and efficiently <br />• To build capacity among city staff to communicate with internal and <br />external audiences <br />• To reinforce and support organizational strategies and critical <br />thinking in communicating about city projects and initiatives <br />3 <br />
