Business Retention & Development Committee <br />Meeting Minutes <br />July 7, 2014 <br />Page 3of 4 <br />REVIEW OF RETAIL BROKER ROUNDTABLE <br />DeJong discussed the recent Broker Roundtable. Chair Dalton asked if there is interest from <br />BRaD members in having the Broker Roundtable results presented at a Council Study Session. <br />Chair Dalton will request this be added to a Study Session agenda. <br />CONDITIONS SURVEY <br />DeJong reported that a conditions survey was conducted on 550 S. McCaslin Blvd to determine <br />if blight existed. Four blight factors were found: <br />Faulty layout in relation to size, adequacy, accessibility orusefulness <br />Deterioration of site or other improvements <br />Defective or unusual condition of title rendering the title nonmarketable <br />The existence of health, safety or welfare factors requiring high levels of municipal <br />services or substantial physical underutilization or vacancy of sites, building or other <br />improvements. <br />th <br />A Public Meeting on the report will be held tonight. The item will be considered at the July 15 <br />Council meeting. <br />RETENTION VISITS: <br />DeJong and Chair Dalton visited Frictionless World but was not discussed at the meeting. <br />ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENTBRIEFING: <br />Alfalfa’s has opened and the store seems to be doing well. <br />Planning Department continues work on the Parking Study. <br />Urban Renewal Legislation was vetoed by the Governor. <br />Etkin Johnson Buildings are under construction in the CTC. The first building should be <br />available in August. <br />DELO Redevelopment –the first phase development of 55 townhomes was approved by Council <br />on July 1, 2014 <br />COMMENTS: <br />Rick Brew said that of RMCS said he expects that they will begin turning dirt on the DELO <br />project late in July.He said the office uses within the second phase of DELOneeds daytime <br />parking. DeJong said there is money in CIP for parkingthat may be available for a shared <br />parking scenario. <br />DeJong said he seeks guidance for pursuing retailers. Commissioner Menaker said to start <br />having lunches with potential businesses. <br />
