L <br />City o[ <br />Louisville <br />COLORADO • SINCE 1878 <br />CITY COUNCIL COMMUNICATION <br />AGENDA ITEM 1 <br />SUBJECT: ANNUAL REPORT — LOCAL LICENSING AUTHORITY (LLA) <br />DATE: <br />AUGUST 26, 2014 <br />PRESENTED BY: JOHN CARLSON, CHAIR FOR 2014 <br />CAROL HANSON, SECRETARY TO THE AUTHORITY <br />LIST HIGHLIGHTS AND SUCESSES OF THE PAST YEAR (2013): <br />• Renewed 55 Liquor licenses and 2 Medical Marijuana licenses <br />• Drafted and reviewed legislation concerning transfers and change of location for <br />Medical Marijuana and referred to Council. <br />• Approved 1 new Hotel and Restaurant license (this was formerly a Beer and <br />Wine license) 1 new Brew Pub license and 1 new Beer and Wine license <br />• Approved 26 Special Events Liquor Permits — this includes supporting the <br />Downtown Business Association continuing safe alcohol service at the Street <br />Faire <br />• Police Department worked in conjunction with the LLA and the Lafayette Police <br />Department to provide quarterly seller /server training <br />WHAT WORKED WELL FOR YOUR BOARD THIS PAST YEAR? <br />The Licensing Authority works well together and strives to encourage businesses to <br />operate within the liquor or marijuana laws. The Authority would like to recognize the <br />excellent work of the City Attorney, Sam Light, in presenting the Open Government and <br />Ethics training. <br />WHAT DID NOT WORK WELL FOR YOUR BOARD THIS PAST YEAR? <br />The Authority encountered no real stumbling blocks last year. <br />LIST PLANS /GOALS FOR NEXT YEAR: <br />Continue to encourage license holders to discuss any issues with the Authority. <br />WHAT IS YOUR BOARD'S MISSION STATEMENT AND DO YOU THINK IT NEEDS <br />ANY UPDATING OR CHANGING: <br />To uphold the powers and functions granted the Authority by the ordinances of the City <br />and applicable State Statutes relating to all licensing of liquor and marijuana. <br />IN WHAT AREAS DO YOU NEED CITY COUNCIL INPUT /FEEDBACK? <br />The Authority welcomes any input or feedback, but has no specific requests. <br />KNOWING THAT FUNDING IS LIMITED AND NOT ALL PROGRAMS WILL BE A <br />PRIORITY IN ANY GIVEN BUDGET YEAR, WHAT PROJECTS/ <br />PROGRAMS /POSITIONS ETC.
