CONSTITUTION WEEK PROCLAMATION <br /> SEPTEMBER 17 - 23, 2014 <br /> WHEREAS: It is the privilege and duty of the American people to commemorate <br /> the two hundred twenty-seventh anniversary of the drafting of the <br /> Constitution of the United States of America with appropriate <br /> ceremonies and activities: and <br /> WHEREAS: Every American shares in this legacy of liberty, and we are grateful <br /> for the courage, conviction, and sacrifice of all those who have <br /> helped preserve and uphold the principles of a free society. As we <br /> remember the enduring importance of the Constitution we also <br /> recognize our responsibility as citizens to respect and defend the <br /> values of our founding, and participate in the unfolding story of <br /> freedom. <br /> WHEREAS: In celebration of the signing of the Constitution and in recognition of <br /> the Americans who strive to uphold the duties and responsibilities <br /> of citizenship, the Congress, by joint resolution of August 2, 1956 <br /> (36 U.S.C., 108, as amended), request the proclamation that the <br /> week of September 17th and ending September 23rd of each year <br /> as "Constitution Week." <br /> NOW, THEREFORE I, Robert P. Muckle as Mayor of the City of Louisville do hereby <br /> proclaim the week of September 17th through the 23rd as CONSTITUTION WEEK and <br /> urge all citizens to study the Constitution, and reflect on the privilege of being an <br /> American with all the rights and responsibilities which that privilege involves. <br /> DATED this 2"d of eptember 2014 <br /> Signed <br /> Robert P.
