Commission Questions/Comments:

Commissioner Boulet asked how they designed their sign program.

Braun stated that they are trying to address the fact that the main entry of the park will be changed
from the south to the north. In the future a large amount of people will be coming from the north so
they are trying to address that at this time.

Commissioner Solek would like to request that half of the shrubs be replaced with Yellow Currant and
Serviceberry for more variety.

John Lanterman, Landscape Architect, is amenable to Commissioner Solek’s request.

Solek wanted to add to Condition No. 8 that the berming is also evaluated to provide that the
irrigation water and the storm water doesn’t immediately drain onto the sidewalks and the truck
loading areas adjacent to the berms.

Braun agreed.

Commissioner Pritchard asked if the mechanicals would be painted or screened.

Braun’s understanding of the guidelines is that they should be painted.

Staff Summary:

Kenneth Johnstone did not have any further comments.

Applicant Summary:

Mr. Braun hoped that Condition No. 7 would be reconsidered and with the clarification of item
number 11 that if it is seen repaint the building the predominant color are the two requests he had.

Public Hearing Closed / Commission Discussion / Vote:

Lipton likes the plan, however he differs with the applicant on Condition No. 7, if there is an
opportunity to plant wetland plantings, he would like see that done. Lipton differs with Commissioner
Solek on the landscaped islands. He doesn’t think it is an issue in the IDDSG.

Thompson likes the project and is also not concerned with the kind of turf in the parking area.
Thompson agrees that wetland plantings should be used.

Boulet agrees with all that has been said previously.

Solek would like to see more use of very low water requiring plant material. The landscape islands are
an important place for that to occur.

5
