APPROVED – MARCH 10, 2005 <br /> <br />Deborski requested information about parking and the FasTrack project with relation to parking <br />concerns. <br />Simmons stated that parking for FasTrack was currently planned for the east side of the tracks <br />with the west side being primarily available for drop-off and pick up. <br /> <br />McDermott asked if the current plan included a 2 hour parking limit. <br />Simmons explained that the duration of parking had yet to be determined. <br /> <br />Simmons concluded the discussion with a request to approve the application. <br /> <br />Members of the Public: <br />Nancy Love, 841 Front St., expressed concern with the below grade parking and how it will <br />affect her property because of the underpinning that will required. <br /> <br />Commission Questions: <br />Deborski asked what was planned for the removal and location of the soil that will be removed <br />for the below grade parking. <br />Boyd explained that it will be used as fill for the Community Park area for road construction. <br /> <br />Deborski asked where the materials will be staged. <br />Antolat stated that it will be staged from the old Alpine Lumber site. <br /> <br />Kalish inquired if the underpinning of the adjacent property is necessary and for a better <br />explanation of the process. <br />Simmons explained that the City will need to obtain easements from the property owners for the <br />use of the pins. <br /> <br />McDermott asked if the practice of freezing 6 – 8 feet of the soil had been considered. <br />Antolat stated he was not familiar with that method. <br />McDermott recommended that he review that method as a alternative. <br /> <br />Lipton inquired about the landscape area in the front of the building. <br />Poli reviewed the plan and its relationship to the stairs that lead to the below grade parking. <br /> <br />Lipton asked how the exhaust fumes would be vented from the below grade parking. <br />Poli stated that exhaust fans would be located inside the structure, adjacent to the stairwell and <br />will cycle on/off as needed. <br /> <br />Loo asked staff if the method of lighting the sign (ground lite) is allowed. <br />Wood confirmed that it is an allowed method. <br /> <br />Public Hearing Closed Commission Comments: <br />Deborski stated that he liked the building but will not support approval of the application <br />because of the location and the problems it creates for parking in the downtown area. <br />5 <br /> <br /> <br />
