CORRECTED AND APPROVED – APRIL 14, 2005 <br /> <br />Kathy McCormick, McCormick and Associates, presented the following Housing Study <br />summary: <br /> <br />1)Encourage development that has a mix of type and pricing <br /> <br />2)Increase the supply of affordable housing <br /> <br />3)Density to support retail and commercial use <br /> <br />4)Higher density close to transit sites, as well as commercial centers (live / work options) <br /> <br />5)Efficient number of homes to maintain a vibrant community <br /> <br />6)Housing to meet the needs of Empty Nesters <br />McCormick concluded with the following recommendations as outlined in the Comp Plan: <br /> <br />1)Increase opportunities <br /> <br />2)Encourage mixed income housing with <br /> <br />a.Variety of units <br /> <br />b.Variable density <br /> <br />c.Higher density close to transit, retail, services and commercial. <br /> <br />Melissa Allen, PBS & J 5500, presented the following Transportation summary: <br /> <br />1)Review of current modes of transportation available in Louisville <br /> <br />2)A need identified for better public transportation for the City and the region. <br /> <br />3)Review of the existing 2004 traffic volumes for specific areas of town. <br /> <br />4)Review of current and already proposed street improvement projects. <br /> <br />Lipton declared a five minutes recess at 7:55 PM. <br /> <br />Lipton called to meeting back to order and reviewed the process for public comments and <br />reminded the participants of the 4 minute limit for each. <br /> <br />Public Comments – each speaker is asked to keep their comments to 4 minutes <br />John Leary, 1116 Lafarge, expressed concern with the 4 minute time limit and stated that it is not <br />enough time for participants to address any of the topics or issues already addressed by the <br />consultant team. <br /> <br />Alan Sobel, 1408 Kennedy, requested that a Telecom element be added to the Comp Plan for the <br />following reasons: <br /> <br />1)The community vision is for a Louisville Public Access TV Studio. <br /> <br />2)It services as an educational tool. <br /> <br />3)It provides a means and method for economic development within the community. <br />Lipton requested that the draft wording to add to the Comp Plan. <br /> <br />Rob Lathrop, 601 Johnson St., addressed his concerns with the HWY 42 area and requested that <br />the commission look at that area very closely. He recommended residential uses not be located <br />directly adjacent to existing commercial / industrial uses. <br /> <br />Rich Lopez, 4450 Arapahoe, Boulder, representing the Hoyle Family Trust, briefly summarized <br />the history of the Hoyle Property and it’s relationship to the City.
