NEW LIBRARY UPDATE
Design work for the new Louisville Public Library continues, with Humphries Poll Architects
taking the lead in planning the new facility. The 31,000 square foot library, funded by a $7.4 million bond
issue approved by the Louisville voters in November 2003, will be located at the northwest corner of Spruce
Street and Front Street. Currently, this is the location of a City-owned parking lot. The
-.,10-4 two-story building will include both an underground parking garage and surface level
iiir MI' parking.
Preliminary building drawings will be presented to the public at an open
house scheduled for Monday,August 23 at the Louisville Public Library Meeting
Room from 5:00— 7:30 PM. The drawings will include a proposed floor plan;
conceptual building elevations (exterior design); and a site plan including the location
of the building and related parking. As drawings become available they will be posted
on the City's web site at wwwci.louisville.co.us and updated regularly. For further
information, please contact Anne Mojo, Library Director, at 303.335.4800 or mojoa @ci.louisville.co.us.
WHERE DOES THE MONEY FROM YOUR UTILITY BILL Go?
City Council members were asked at a recent ward meeting how the City spends the money that is
collected from utility bills. The pie charts below show how that money is divided within the City's
budget expenditures.
• Debt obligation money is used to for a variety of loan and lease payments, including an approximately
$12 Million loan from the Colorado Water&Power Authority that was used to purchase water rights
and build the reuse water line that services the golf course and the new community park.
• Distribution and collection system money is used to maintain the general water and wastewater
systems.
• General government and finance money is used to cover general expenses such as salaries and
noncapital costs.
For additional information on the City's water and sewer funds or the budget in general, please contact
Patty Leslie at 303.335.4505 or lesliep @ci.louisville.co.us.
Water Expenditures Sewer Expenditures
as of May 31,2004 General as of May 31,2004
Government
9%
General
Debt Obligaton Finance Pretreatment_ Government
34% 3% 7% 18%
Plant Operations 11W
30% 7%
Collection
Plant System
Operations 9%
A
59%
Distribution and
Collection
System Raw Water
10% Treatment
14%
August/September 2004 10
