YOUTH ADVISORY BOARD
CELEBRATES TWO YEARS OF SERVICE TO THE COMMUNITY
The Youth Advisory Board serves as a link between the City Council and the youth of Louisville to identify
issues pertaining to youth, communicate the concerns of youth, and suggest possible actions to be taken.
The Board works with the City Council by suggesting items for the Council agenda, proposing city programs,
activities, ordinances, or amendments, and lobbying for youth interests. In addition, the board takes on projects to
create a better community and to promote a positive youth image.
The Board consists of one student from each grade, 5-12, from each school in Louisville. Board members must
be Louisville residents and are appointed by their respective schools. Each member serves a two-year term. If
seats are not filled by the schools, member-at-large positions may be created. Members-at-large serve one-year
terms.
Meetings are held the first Thursday of every month during the school year in City Hall, 749 Main Street, from
7:30-8:30 PM. The meetings are broadcast on cable channel 8. The board may schedule additional meetings as
needed.
The 2003-2004 Board members were a highly motivated group of individuals. They launched the "Have You
Given Your Hour" campaign to encourage youth to volunteer one hour each month to make a difference in the
world. Board members volunteered their time to collect food for Community Food Share, visit residents at
Wellspring, decorate lunch bags for Meals on Wheels, and help with a variety of community special events.
The 2004-2005 Board will take the reins in September and will attend a retreat during the fall in Estes Park
with other youth boards from around Colorado to learn leadership skills, network, and set goals for the upcoming
year.
For more information about the Youth Advisory Board, please contact Mandy Perera at 303.335.4902 or
balzara@ci.louisville.co.us.
EARLY LEARNING FOR PRE-K CHILDREN NEW POLICE AND MUNICIPAL
AT THE RECREATION CENTER COURT BUILDING NOW OPEN
Is your preschooler ready to embark on a road full of fun TO SERVE THE PUBLIC
and learning?Building Blocks and Stepping Stones are safe, fun,
and nurturing classes for children to play, learn, grow, and socialize e new Police and Municipal Court
at their own pace.
