LLEAF COLLECTION PROGRAM BOARD AND COMMISSION OPENINGS <br /> In an effort to reduce landfill waste, the City started The City has , <br /> a new leaf collection program in 1999. Through this <br /> L program, the Police Department will place a lock box containing a house key <br /> ,_ f;, on the outside of a resident's home. In the event that the resident needs <br /> medical or police assistance, and is unable to unlock the door, an officer would <br /> be able to access the spare key.Although the program is available to anyone, it <br /> tiFstuitt„ <br /> is targeted at the more vulnerable residents such as elderly residents living <br /> alone, and the frail or disabled. Letters introducing the program were mailed <br /> out to many individuals in the <br /> community who might be interested and the program has also been ••• •• • <br /> advertised in the Senior Highlights newsletter. ::: III <br /> There has been a very positive response. In fact, the Senior Services <br /> Division and the Police Department were recently awarded the <br /> Community Partnership Award from the Colorado Association of <br /> Senior Centers for this program.
