GETTING TO KNOW . . .
THE HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION
The newly appointed Historic Preservation Commission advises the City Council and City
staff on preservation issues. In addition, the Commission will create and oversee a land-
marking process that will allow for individual properties in Louisville to be designated as local land-
marks of historical relevance.
The Commission is currently working on an ordinance that will allow for the local landmaking
of buildings, both residential and commercial, the creation of historic districts, and the designtation
of a Louisville Register of Historic Places. The Commission will oversee applications for landmark
status and work to encourage the preservation of historic structures.
Commission members are very interested in public input on how this new program will work
and any ideas that residents have regarding the preservation of buildings in Louisville. If you have
any comments for the Commission, feel free to attend their regularly scheduled meetings the sec-
ond Monday of every month at 7:00 PM at City Hall or you can call 303.335.4536 with comments
for the Commission members. For more information about the Commission, please visit www.
ci.louisville.co.us/Boards/preservation.htm.
Downtown Street Faire Come Celebrate the
Friday Nights, 5:00-8:30 PM Taste of Louisville
June 20th-August 29th Saturday, June 14
At the New Steinbaugh Pavillion, 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM
824 Front Street Historic Downtown
This year we are planning even more fun with great Louisville
live entertainment.
