SUBJECT: <br />DATE: <br />SMALL AREA PLANS: CITY- WIDE SURVEYS <br />NOVEMBER 10, 2014 <br />PAGE 2 OF 2 <br />The mailed survey will consist of a one -page introductory letter, two pages of text <br />questions, and nine pages of photo based questions. The proposed text questions ask <br />about general opinions of different aspects of the corridor and about how the <br />respondents use and interact with the corridor. They also ask about land use <br />categories the respondents would like to see more or less of, and some basic <br />demographic questions. The proposed photo questions present different building and <br />public space forms and placements and ask respondents to rate each alternative for its <br />appropriateness in the study area. <br />The results of the survey will be used in developing alternative scenarios for the study <br />area at the next Small Area Plan public meeting, tentatively scheduled for February. <br />The alternatives will be analyzed by staff and reviewed and revised by Planning <br />Commission and City Council before a preferred alternative is selected by Council to <br />serve as the basis for the final plan. <br />FISCAL IMPACT: <br />The survey as proposed falls under the previously amended contract and will have no <br />additional fiscal impact. <br />REQUEST: <br />Staff requests City Council discuss the attached proposed draft survey questions. <br />Based on the discussion, staff will present revised survey questions to City Council for <br />approval at the November 18, 2014 meeting. <br />ATTACHMENT(S): <br />1.
