Goals, Objectives, and Initiatives <br />The 2015 goals, objectives, and initiatives for the Library and Museum Services Department <br />include: <br />Maintain Small Town Character <br />❑ Improve coordination with BVSD <br />o Librarians regularly visit Louisville and Superior school libraries to build <br />awareness of public library support available for teachers and students. <br />o Through partnership with BVSD, tracks the impact of participation in the library's <br />Summer Reading Program in preventing "summer slide." <br />o All programs for young children include early learning practices and instruction <br />drawn from the Public Library Association's 'Every Child Ready to Read II.' <br />o Students learn about early Louisville history during school tours of the Historical <br />Museum and DelPizzo replica of 1900 Louisville. <br />Improve Basic City Services <br />❑ Maintain Library services at current levels and increase access to electronic media <br />o The Flatirons Library Consortium is organized as a legal entity and membership <br />is expanded to enhance resource sharing among northern Front Range libraries. <br />o Residents' ease of library use is enhanced through the ability to pay library fees <br />and book study rooms online. <br />o Featured library programs are broadcast on Channel 8. <br />Promote Economic Sustainability <br />❑ Improve business retention and recruitment activities <br />o Library database offerings feature enhanced consumer demographic and <br />business analysis tools. <br />o Librarians attend DBA and Chamber events to educate about business <br />resources; business - related classes support entrepreneurs and business <br />owners. <br />Protect and Preserve Louisville's History <br />❑ Develop and adopt Museum Master Plan <br />❑ Provide online access to historic photos from the Historical Museum's collection. <br />❑ Provide public access to The Louisville Times, from 1942 -2007. <br />Improve Efficiency and Effectiveness in City Operations <br />❑ Promote cost - effective energy efficiency, zero waste and other sustainability best <br />practices <br />o Selection and acquisition of library materials move to an electronic system of <br />ordering that eliminates paper and duplication of effort. <br />o New residents are identified and contacted regarding the range of library and <br />museum services available to them. <br />❑ Increase volunteerism in a way that decreases costs and increases understanding <br />o The Library continues to utilize volunteers as Summer Reading aides (40 teens), <br />Reading Buddies for reluctant readers (25 teens), tutors and homework helpers, <br />
