#¨³¸®¥,®´¨²µ¨««¤#¨³¨¹¤­3´±µ¤¸ <br />- ¸wuvw <br />ExecutiveSummary <br />SurveyBackgroundandMethods <br />TheLouisvilleCitizenSurveygivesresidentstheopportunitytoratetheirsatisfactionwith <br />thequalityoflifeinthecity,the¢®¬¬´­¨³¸ <br />²amenitiesandsatisfactionwithlocal <br />government.Thesurveygatherscommunitywidefeedbackonwhatisworkingwelland <br />whatisnotandhelpsmapout±¤²¨£¤­³² <br />prioritiesforcommunityplanningandresource <br />allocation.ItservesasaconsumerreportcardforLouisville;providingacheckinwith <br />residentstomakesuretheCitypoliciesandservicesareoncourse.Thisisthethirdtime <br />NationalResearchCenter,Inc.(NRC)conductedtheLouisvilleCitizenSurveyandthesixth <br />iterationinaseriesofcitizensurveyprojectscompletedbytheCityofLouisvillesince1990. <br />TheLouisvilleCitizenSurveywasadministeredbymailto2,000randomlyselected <br />householdswithinthecity.Ofthosehouseholdsreceivingthesurvey,891residents <br />respondedtothemailedquestionnaire,givingahighresponserateof46%.Themarginof <br />errorisplusorminusthreepercentagepointsaroundanygivenpercentagefortheentire <br />sample.Surveyresultswereweightedsothatthecharacteristicsofgender,age,tenure <br />(rentversusown)andhousingunittype(attachedversusdetached)arerepresentedin <br />proportionsreflectiveoftheentirecity. <br />Comparisonsaremadebetween2012responsesandthosefromprioryears,whenpossible. <br />arecomparedtothoseofotherjurisdictionsaroundthenationas <br />,®´¨²µ¨««¤ <br />²resultsalso <br />wellastothoseofotherFrontRangejurisdictions.Thesecomparisonsweremadepossible <br />through.2# <br />²nationalbenchmarkdatabase.Thisdatabasecontainsresidentperspectives <br />gatheredincitizensurveysfromapproximately500jurisdictions. <br />SurveyFindings <br />Louisvilleisagreatplacetolive.Residentsgavehighratingstotheoverallqualityoflifein <br />LouisvilleandtheoverallqualityofCityservices.Ratingsforindividualaspectsofqualityof <br />lifeandspecifictypesofservicesalsoreceivedstrongmarks. <br />Ofthe91ratingsthatcouldbecomparedtothenation,87were¬´¢§ ¡®µ¤thenational <br />benchmark,twowere ¡®µ¤andtwowere²¨¬¨« ±tothenationalaverage.Mostratings <br />alsowereaboveratingsgivenbyresidentsinotherFrontRangejurisdictions(of67 <br />comparableratings,62were¬´¢§ ¡®µ¤þonewas ¡®µ¤þthreewere²¨¬¨« ±andone <br />was¡¤«®¶theFrontRangebenchmark). <br />QualityofLifeandCommunity <br />MostresidentsofLouisvillesaiditwasan¤·¢¤««¤­³placetoliveandraisechildren,and <br />more,comparedto2008,believeditwasan¤·¢¤««¤­³or¦®®£placetoworkandretire. <br />Residentsthoughttheircommunitywassafe,walkableandbikeableandhadgood <br />opportunitiesforrecreation.Theyfelttherewasastrongsenseofcommunityandgood <br />opportunitiestocontributetothatcommunitythroughvolunteeringorparticipatingin <br />communitymatters.Theygavebetterevaluationstomostcharacteristicsoftheir <br />z <br />
