Youth Advisory Board Meeting Minutes November 6, 2014 Page 2 of 3 The second project is a sustainability roadmap to present to city council. They are gathering feedback from all the boards about this and would like to come to another meeting after the beginning of the year to collect ideas. VII. Nominations, speeches and elections for Officer positions The elections were held and our officers for the 2014 -2015 term are: Chairperson- Isabella McHugh Vice Chairperson- Tyler Waters Secretary- Brigitte Calder -Ward CONGRATULATIONS! VIII. Goals for the year- discussion YAB Members split into two groups to plan a proposal about what our focus should be this year: a safety group and a "fun" group. The safety group proposed planning one big event to tackle bullying, drug use, and suicide prevention. The fun group proposed working on convincing Louisville residents they need a new outdoor pool. A vote was taken, and the YAB decided to focus on the pool project. IX. Monthly Volunteer Projects • November: Community Food Share @ King Soopers on Monday, Nov. 24th (9- 11:30am) and /or Tuesday, Nov. 25th (9- 11:30am)- a signup sheet was passed around for these shifts. • December: Dessert & Story Time with Santa, Wednesday, December 10th • January- Suzanne wants to talk about a partnership project with the Louisville Cultural Council. X. Vote- change date for the January meeting The Youth Advisory Board voted YES to move the date of the January meeting from January 1 st to January 8th XI. Other Boards and Commissions Brigitte went to the Historical Commission meeting, where they discussed- • having buildings advertise their energy statistics • expansion of the Louisville History Museum • the upcoming new website • old LSV Times newspapers coming to the library • museum open house during the Parade of Lights • Pioneer Award- was handed out.
