Louisville Public Library Strategic Plan <br />D. World Book Night <br />• The library serves as a pick -up point for resident <br />volunteers who distribute WBN titles throughout the <br />community. <br />2014 Work Plan <br />Completed. Unfortunately, World <br />Book Night has been cancelled for <br />2015 by national organizers. <br />4. Partners <br />We support and augment the resources of schools, preschools, and daycares, which are <br />our natural literacy allies. <br />4.1 Work Plan Responses <br />A. ESL and Citizenship instruction <br />• Intercambio staff and volunteers provide literacy and <br />citizenship preparation instruction. <br />B. One Book 4 Colorado <br />• Louisville and Superior 4- year -olds receive a free copy <br />of a book provided by the State Library and distributed <br />through the Library and Library Trustees to individuals, <br />daycares, and preschools. <br />C. Supporting Reading Skills with Schools <br />• BVSD and Boulder County public libraries interpret <br />student data to determine if participation in the public <br />libraries' Summer Reading Program prevents reading <br />skills "summer slide." <br />D. School Visits <br />• Staff works to ensure that area schools and daycares, <br />particularly those without libraries of their own, visit <br />the Library on a regular basis. <br />E. Youth and Senior Agencies <br />• We provide program support for a variety of <br />community groups such as Balfour, the YMCA, and the <br />BVSD Adult Transition program. <br />5. Diverse Collections <br />Our collections reflect the diversity of our community and our world. <br />Citizenship, ESL classes ongoing. <br />Completed. State funding <br />approved for 2015. <br />Assessment tool for BVSD reading <br />level changed/ no cooperation <br />from BVSD for 2015. <br />St. Louis, Primrose, other daycares <br />visit regularly or as needed. <br />Visits to Balfour monthly, outreach <br />to Lydia Morgan. Adult Transition <br />group visits weekly. <br />5 <br />
