Louisville Public Library Strategic Plan D. World Book Night • The library serves as a pick -up point for resident volunteers who distribute WBN titles throughout the community. 2014 Work Plan Completed. Unfortunately, World Book Night has been cancelled for 2015 by national organizers. 4. Partners We support and augment the resources of schools, preschools, and daycares, which are our natural literacy allies. 4.1 Work Plan Responses A. ESL and Citizenship instruction • Intercambio staff and volunteers provide literacy and citizenship preparation instruction. B. One Book 4 Colorado • Louisville and Superior 4- year -olds receive a free copy of a book provided by the State Library and distributed through the Library and Library Trustees to individuals, daycares, and preschools. C. Supporting Reading Skills with Schools • BVSD and Boulder County public libraries interpret student data to determine if participation in the public libraries' Summer Reading Program prevents reading skills "summer slide." D. School Visits • Staff works to ensure that area schools and daycares, particularly those without libraries of their own, visit the Library on a regular basis. E. Youth and Senior Agencies • We provide program support for a variety of community groups such as Balfour, the YMCA, and the BVSD Adult Transition program. 5. Diverse Collections Our collections reflect the diversity of our community and our world. Citizenship, ESL classes ongoing. Completed. State funding approved for 2015. Assessment tool for BVSD reading level changed/ no cooperation from BVSD for 2015. St. Louis, Primrose, other daycares visit regularly or as needed. Visits to Balfour monthly, outreach to Lydia Morgan. Adult Transition group visits weekly. 5
