Louisville Public Library Strategic Plan <br />2014 Work Plan <br />Goal #4: Foster Technological Proficiency <br />We strive to keep pace with the advancing technological needs of both patrons <br />and staff in order to best execute our mission to inform, involve, and inspire. <br />Objectives <br />1. Technology Education <br />The Louisville Public Library helps patrons learn to use available technologies through <br />classes, outreach, and one -on -one instruction. <br />1.1 Work Plan Responses <br />A. Tech Outreach <br />• Residents can consult the Library's Tech Guru for <br />one -on -one help with mobile devices, computers, <br />and downloading issues. <br />B. In -house Downloadables <br />• Library users are able to download e-books and audios <br />while in the Library. <br />C. Tech for kids <br />• Staff explores using basic tech tools such as Raspberry <br />Pi and LittleBits Synth kits to introduce children and <br />teens to computer science. <br />Scheduled three times /mo. <br />Not completed. Work with IT in <br />2015. <br />Raspberry Pi programs offered as <br />part of Summer Reading for kids. <br />2. Expanding Device Availability <br />Library staff explores ways to enhance the sharing of information and entertainment <br />through varied lendable electronic devices and hardware. <br />2.1 Work Plan Responses <br />A. E -books <br />• Titles loaded on circulating NooksTM are updated <br />regularly with new titles. <br />B. Tablets <br />• Staff considers ways tablets may be used by staff and <br />Library visitors, including digital story times, felt board <br />apps, and support for programs like Rainbow Looms. <br />Completed. <br />'Techno Tales' an ongoing <br />Children's program.
