Louisville Public Library Strategic Plan <br />2014 Work Plan <br />Goal #5: Preserve and Promote Our Community's Past <br />We share documents related to Louisville's past through electronic access, <br />programming, and displays. <br />Objectives <br />1. Education <br />Citizens readily find electronic photographs and documents related to Louisville's past. <br />The Library's website, programs, and displays about local history help people connect to <br />the community's past. <br />1.1 <br />Work Plan Responses <br />A. Access <br />• Utilizing paid interns, catalog records of up to 1000 <br />items held at the Historical Museum are available to <br />the public through a PastPerfect database linked to the <br />Library's website. <br />B. Programs <br />• The Library and Historical Museum collaborate to <br />present three programs dealing with the area's history. <br />C. Genealogical research <br />• Individualized help is available weekly through the <br />library's Genealogy Guide. <br />1,300 County Assessor cards for <br />historic Louisville properties <br />available online. Another 700 <br />cataloged and ready for scanning. <br />Hecla Mine tour, Louisville <br />geography's impact on history, <br />Bocce ball, Keeping the Peace in <br />Louisville. <br />Completed, and much appreciated <br />by patrons. <br />2. Partners <br />In conjunction with the Louisville Historical Museum, the Library pursues partnerships to <br />enhance resource sharing and funding opportunities so that access to unique historical <br />materials is increased. <br />2.1 Work Plan Responses <br />A. <br />Grants <br />• Library and Museum staff survey grant- making <br />institutions and foundations that may support <br />electronic scanning projects for historic photos and <br />documents. <br />Staff attended IMLS presentation at <br />national PLA conference.
