The draft has been reviewed by the Historic Preservation <br />Commission Vision Subcommittee, Historic Preservation Commission, Planning <br />Staff, and Mary Therese Anstey, HistoryMatters. <br />Purpose: <br />The City of Louisville and its residents citizens of Louisville -value the historic <br />charm and character of Louisville. The City of Louisville has a unique <br />preservation program supported by a dedicated sales tax that has resulted in <br />over 20 Iocalcontributed to Iandmarkc landmarkin i properties in Old Town and <br />Downtown Louisville. However, the City has never had an adopted preservation <br />maeter plan. The purpose of the Preservation Master Plan is to engage the <br />community, study issues facing an evolving historic preservation program, and <br />develop City -wide goals for preservation. The result will be a plan to guide the <br />preservation program to 2035. <br />Vision: <br />Historic preservation in the City of Louisville is used to advancecontributes to <br />best practices in design, economic development, cultural tourism, public <br />education, sustainability, and community pride. Over the next 20 years, the <br />historic preservation program will: <br />• Research, document, evaluate, and preserve historic resources <br />• Encourage design that is in keeping with the scale, materials, and form of <br />Louisville's architecture <br />• Continue lAssess athe incentive -based approach to preservation <br />• Increase education and outreach to Louisville residents and visitors <br />Comment [LT1]: Or analyze? <br />Comment [LT2]: Starts to feel like a <br />conclusion. <br />
