ALLEY.- Every way set apart for public use within a block ~~ <br />for local convenience except footpaths and streets. <br />INTERSECTION - The area eribraced within the prolongation or <br />connection of the lateral curb lines, or, if none, then the <br />lateral boundary lines of the roadways of two or more streets `• <br />or highways which join one another. <br />CROSSWALK - That portion o:f a roadway ordinarily included <br />within the prolongation or connection of the lateral lines <br />of sidewalks at intersections or any portion of a roadway <br />distinctly indicated for pedestrian crossing by lines or <br />other markings on the surface. <br />SfFETY ZOT?E - The area or space officially set apart within <br />a roadway for the exclusive use of pedestrians and which is <br />protected or is so marked or indicated by signs as to be <br />plainly visable at all times while set apart as a safety <br />zone. <br />OFFICI^.L TRAFFIC C01_`TROL DEVICES - All signs, signals, <br />markings and devices not inconsistent with this ordinance, <br />placed or erected by authority of a p~~ilie body or official <br />having jurisdiction, for tlae purpose of guiding, direct- <br />ing, warning and regulating traffic. <br />OFFICIAL TRAFFIC SIGNALS - All signals not inconsistent <br />with this ordinance, pla,cec~ or ,ere c.t.~d.,_by:.,authori~ty of a <br />public bod~r or .official 'having ,jurisdiction, for °the pur- <br />pose of guiding, directi:n.g, warning-or regulating Traffic. <br />TRAFFIC COI~?TROL-SIGNAL - Any device, whether manually, <br />electrically or mechanically operated, by which traffic is <br />alternat-ely directed to stop and proceed. <br />ARTICLE II <br />A'Dni~IT?ISTRATICTT <br />Sec . 1. It is the dui~y of the Town Marshall t o enforce <br />the traff9_c regulations of this town a.nd the State Vehicle <br />Laws applicable to traff_i.c in this town.
