<br /> 3 <br /> <br /> 1024 Jefferson Current Photo (Unit A and Unit B) <br /> <br />HISTORICAL BACKGROUND: <br />Information from Historian Bridget Bacon <br /> <br />This house in the Louisville neighborhood of Little Italy was the home of the <br />Rizzi/DiGiacomo family for nearly 100 years. Frank Rizzi, who grew up in the house, <br />was mayor of Louisville for many of the years when it transitioned from being a coal <br />mining town to a modern city. <br /> <br />Frank Rizzi <br /> <br />Frank Rizzi, who grew up at 1401 Cannon and served in World War I with the 44th <br />Army Infantry. His terms as mayor were from 1956 to 1960 and 1962 until 1970. He was <br />also a councilman for 18 years. According to his 1991 obituary, it was during his civic <br />tenure that the residents of Louisville got paved streets, sewers, and a new City Hall <br />building. For his occupation, he started working as a coal miner at age 16 and later <br />worked for Fischer Construction. <br /> <br />
