planning department to try to work out some of the
compromises. He needs to hear from you, what it
is you want him to try and work out with them.
Franklin: The County wants a very direct answer on the open
space, but when I mentioned the parcels near STC
and trade offs on terms of design, the door did
not shut. The indication to me by Ron was the
priority route would be a curve at 96th and
Dillon.
Sackett: I would be willing to compromise to change our
Comprehensive Plan to ensure there is open space
along Dillon Road. What they are asking for is
the entire section between Dillon Road and 42.
That is about twice as much as seems reasonably
necessary. That is a huge chunk and it really
does limit our future and future Councils. It
seems like the parcel directly adjacent to Dillon
is reasonable, about half as much as they might be
asking for would be more reasonable to me.
Davidson: Agreed somewhat with Sackett. Before we change
land that is zoned Industrial over to Open Space,
I would like to know a little more about what the
effect is. I certainly support the concept in
general. When I looked at this, current traffic
between the eastern boundary of Louisville and I-
25 you would have maybe two signals. That is not
direct airport access, but is near direct. As the
traffic expanded it would become more and more
like a park way and less and less like a regular
road.
Brand: Commissioner Stewart is willing to come back next
Tuesday for a work session with the planning staff
from Boulder County. Franklin will be working
with them in the meantime. I think that would be
a very good time for them to hear your concerns,
as well as getting them to Franklin so he can take
them there in advance.
Howard: What type of time frame are we talking about for
the area of parkway that affects Louisville? When
are we going to be able to get some road improve-
ments?
Hornbostel: I really don't have a time frame on that. Just
because we are talking about existing roads you
could certainly get an existing road repaired much
faster than having to construct a new road. I
would guess, about five years. That really is a
question you need to ask Commissioner Stewart
about.
7
