MINUTES SUBMITTED FOR REVIEW PAGE 3

LCC’s 501(c)3 is vehicle for applying to SCFD for grants. Typical grant for Louisville is
$1500; upper limit for award is 20% of budget. Suzanne and Gina will research grant
approaches in other local communities to see whether there are other opportunities
to increase Louisville’s allotment. Possible improvements for next year would be to
start working on the grant application in the Fall to spread out the effort over time –
application requires lengthy essays. Also should focus on strong written event
debriefs by leads in conjunction with each event. Possibly also having each committee
write a summary at the end of Spring/Summer/Fall would be helpful. Grant
Application – Angie and Gina are available to support Lawrence as Lead Grant author.
Additional Grant/fundraising opportunities – Angie attended 3-day grant training
(Boulder County focus). Suggestions: Colorado Creative Industries' grants may be a
good option; also, the library has a grant book available on-line. In addition, Colorado
Gives Day is an option. The application process could be challenging, but then LCC
would come up in the Boulder County list on that day.
The wine-arts raffle idea first discussed last year is still an option.
Festival of Trees – a fundraising possibility at the holidays. Rec Center might be a good
location.
Discussion of creating a fund raising committee ensued, not decided. As an
alternative to fundraising focused by a fund raising committee, we could raise funds
per event type (e.g., chamber music).
Other ideas not directly related to grants and fund raising:
 Considering options for compostables and/or zero-waste events. Suzanne will
work on getting a quote for that service.
 A “Day in the Life” – potential museum partnership event. This could be
structured along the lines of Colonial Williamsburg’s designated day events
focused on Louisville history.

XIII. Discussion: Minimum Performance Payment
Currently, the artist gets 80% of gate or $200, whichever is greater. It is not clear that
a standard price makes sense regardless of type of performance versus number of
artists in a group and/or type of group. A sliding scale might make more sense.
Decoupling attendance from payment may make sense, as attendance levels are not a
direct indication of performer value.
