"We voted on the best financial plan that the
Authority had to offer, yet it was voted down 4-1
in Louisville." Ms. Hornbostel stated that the
materials coming from the Authority should be
unbiased and that these materials were sent only
to select people. Ms. Hornbostel stated that she
felt the materials were biased and feels that as a
taxpayer that it is inappropriate to have to pay
for "tolling, polling and taxes as well as
election costs." Ms, Hornbostel feels that the
loan from the City to the Authority should be
repaid immediately and feels that this year's
contribution to the Authority should not have been
paid until after the vote. Ms. Hornbostel stated
that she and others are concerned with potential
health hazards resulting from the construction of
this roadway. Ms. Hornbostel requested that
Council withdraw from the Authority and require
the $29,000 loan and this year's contribution of
$23,000 be repaid and be put towards a rec center,
library and the seniors in this community.
Susan Morris, 939 W. Maple Ct., stated that there
may be more than one reason for the resounding
'no' vote in the W-470 election as there may be
more than one reason that she as a taxpayer did
not receive voter information from the W-470
Authority paid for by taxpayer's money through the
contributions by City representatives. However,
Ms. Morris stated she. "can't see any reason for
the City of Louisville to stay in the W-470
Authority any longer." Ms. Morris feels that the
City's payment to the Authority paid the week
prior to the election "is probably being used to
pay for the poll currently being done to determine
what led to the defeat of this proposal." "I
don't agree with you using my tax money to
evaluate why I, along with the vast majority, said
no." Ms. Morris suggested that a question on the
ballot of the up-coming election could ask the
residents if they want to remain in the Authority
or not. Ms. Morris feels its time to get out of
the Authority and get back the City's contribution
to the 1989 operating budget and get back the
$29,000 loan.
Jane Monson, 631 W. Aspen Ct., stated that she has
questioned the City's participation in the W-470
Authority from the beginning and is here tonight
to question it again. Ms. Monson asked why the
City paid the 1989 contribution to the Authority
one week prior to the election. Ms. Monson stated
that she felt it was unfair to the taxpayers and
sited Golden as a city who did not pay their 1989
contribution prior to the election, and will
6
