City Council <br />Special Meeting Minutes <br />January 10, 2012 <br />Page 6 of 9 <br />and Way Finding Plan will be submitted for the Planning Commission's review. <br />There are plans for transportation funding, including FasTracks improvements, <br />northwest rail and future transit projects. RTD, DRCOG and other agencies are <br />also working on transportation issues. <br />PUBLIC COMMENT <br />Michael Menaker, 1827 W. Choke Cherry Drive, Louisville, CO identified <br />passage of the Open Space Tax for golf course improvements; filling vacant <br />buildings such as Sam's Club, the implementation of the Downtown Parking and <br />Pedestrian Plan and the Highway 42 Gateway as priorities. <br />Emily Jasik, 1016 Main Street, Louisville, CO supported prioritizing walkabililty, <br />wayfinding, downtown signage and the Highway 42 Gateway to provide a safe <br />pedestrian crossing. <br />Councilors were asked to revise, add or delete the list to provide a context for <br />discussion on Goals. <br />COUNCIL DISCUSSION <br />Councilor Dalton suggested the trail connectivity be tied to the parks open space <br />master plan. He felt the commercial historic incentive program is almost <br />completed and suggested it have a lower priority. Planning Director Russ noted <br />the goal of trail connectivity is part of the Comp Plan. Parks and Recreation <br />Director Stevens noted the trail connectivity is underway as part of a 3 -5 year <br />project. <br />Councilor Keany suggested removing the infrastructure for the Recreation Center <br />off the list because it will be covered under the Parks and Recreation Master <br />Plan. Councilor Loo suggested the aging infrastructure, examination of CIP <br />Projects and the core services be combined into one goal. <br />Councilor Dalton suggested the examination of CIP projects be deleted because <br />it is on- going. <br />Mayor Muckle suggested taking off the focus of core services. Deputy City <br />Manager Balser explained sometimes things come up, which require resources <br />and staff time. Councilor Yarnell felt the goal of core services should be stated. <br />Councilor Loo suggested safety and health should be the City's first <br />consideration. <br />Council identified and prioritized the Goals they wanted to achieve in the short- <br />term and long- term and pared the list down to the following ten. <br />
