Historical Commission <br />Minutes <br />March 19, 2015 <br />Page 2of5 <br />consultants working on this project requested short (100 words) and long (250 words) <br />versions of text about the Acme Mine to be incorporated into a display for a small <br />park -like area on the site of the Acme Mine shaft. Part of the purpose of this sign is to <br />memorialize miners who died in the Acme Mine. The LHC members provided Lauren <br />with suggestions for the signage language. <br />VII. Update on Preservation Master Plan — Lauren Trice, Planning Dept. <br />Lauren Trice gave an update on the Preservation Master Plan and invited the LHC <br />members to the next meeting on April 8, 2015. <br />VIII. Report from the Museum Coordinator: <br />A. Approval of Deeds of Gifts from donors: The LHC voted to accept the following 9 <br />donations: <br />1. From Dave Ferguson, several items including certificates, Masonic belt <br />buckle and ring from Louisville social and fraternal organizations, eye <br />strengtheners used by his father after a mine accident, flasks from his uncle <br />who ran liquor during Prohibition, certificates re: mine rescues, a prayer book, <br />birth certificates, baptismal certificates and marriage certificates, a Scottish <br />compass used in the mines, and St. Louis and Centaurus report cards and <br />diplomas; <br />2. From Robert Tofte, a Centaurus High School seat cushion from 1991 with <br />the names of local businesses; <br />3. From Marilyn Hunt, a "Karen's in the Country" baked goods list and photos <br />from the 1980s -90s; <br />4. From the City of Louisville, items retrieved from the Baptist Church before it <br />was demolished including a Bible, a plaque about the church bell (the bell is in <br />the City shops), photos, and records; <br />5. From Betty Janssen, Joe Sabatini's granddaughter, documents including <br />receipts from Louisville stores and businesses and tax records; <br />6. From Shirley Elrod, cheerleading uniforms from the 1960's with the Pirate <br />logo, <br />7. From Sandy Beranek, pictures of her father Johnny Williams and the <br />Louisville Rescue Squad; <br />8. From Jo Louise Michaels, whose father was Joseph Dravecky, a certificate <br />for the National Slavonic Society; and <br />9. From Ron Leggett, who graduated in 1952, clippings about his school class <br />and items from his class reunions. <br />B. Someone has offered to donate a fuse cutter like the ones used in the mines in <br />Louisville. This piece of equipment is not from Louisville, but we do not have such <br />an artifact and Bridget has asked around and has been told that fuse cutters like <br />2 <br />
