Architect's Comments
Coal Creek Golf Course opened in 1989 as part of residential housing development.
Its name sake, Coal Creek, meanders throughout the course and comes into play on
eight holes. In 2013, the course was devastated by torrential rains when the creek
rose out of its banks and flooded the course. As a result, in 2014 the course
underwent a major renovation to repair the damage and to modernize the course.
Our goal was to transform Coal Creek
Golf Course to provide a more strategic
and more visually appealing golf course
that would challenge the aggressive or
more skilled golfer while offering an
enjoyable experience for the beginner
and high handicap golfer. Although the
routing of the course and the sequence
of par have remained the same, the
positioning of tees and bunkers and the
design of the greens has changed
dramatically.
Golfers who are familiar with Coal Creek Golf Course will find that the fairways
have been recontoured to improve drainage and to offer a firmer and more
undulating playing surface. Fairway bunkers have been redesigned to require the
golfer to choose between a conservative or a more aggressive line of play. The
greens have been enlarged and recontoured as well. Pay attention to the slope of
the green and the pin position to determine the best angle of approachl.
When you are done with your round, be sure to visit the punchbowl green. It's a
great place to settle a tie with your playing partners or to introduce kids and
beginners to the game of golf.
7e7/1n Nor*
.8rfor?Wo4 Coo fCousse.eird4ect
