working with Colorado counties trying to come to
some consensus on some legislation that could help
Louisville as well as all other Colorado
municipalities on these types of issues.
Sackett stated that he is Council's representative
to DRCOG which is the designated agency for the
Boulder County area, as well as other part of the
Metro area, to distribute Title III Funds for the
aging. Boulder County set up a task force that
looks rather intent on replacing DRCOG in that roll.
"My concern is for our Seniors. The advantage that
we have with DRCOG being the agency, the
administrative costs are less because they serve
a broader geographic area. I am worried that our
Seniors will get less money." Sackett also stated
that being on the Executive Board of DRCOG, he has
the ability to ensure that Louisville will get its
fair share of the funds. Public hearings are being
scheduled to discuss this issue -- one in Lafayette,
Monday, September 25th at 1:30 p.m. Sackett
encouraged everyone interested to attend, especially
representatives from the Senior group in Louisville.
Sackett also want to know if people felt DRCOG has
been doing a good job of allocating funds in the past.
As an update, Stahl told Council that the Rec Center
will break ground this week to ensure the grand
opening April 15, 1990.
The Library Advisory Committee along with an
informal group of citizens are meeting to get input
from the community as to what they perceive the
library should be. The second meeting (charette)
will take place on September 30th. The Advisory
Committee will meet on the 10th of October to
finalize a recommendation to bring to Council first
phase improvements for the Library. This will be
presented to Council on October 17th. Improvements
will be completed by April 15, 1990.
The excavation of the Club House for the golf course
began today with the actual course nearly complete.
The Club House should be done by the 1st of
February, 1990. A study session will be scheduled
in October to discuss with Council the 1990
Operating Budget as well as the fee structure that
will be recommended to Council.
The public is being asked not to go onto the golf
course as the seeded areas are still very vulnerable
to damage.
ADJOURNMENT With no further business, Mayor Fauson adjourned the
meeting at 8:32 p.m.
5
