Historical Commission
Minutes
May 6, 2015
Page 2of5
3. From Betty Scarpella, a full -size composite showing senior photos of the
1943 class of Louisville High School from her husband's aunt, Dorothy Scarpella
Grieve;
4. From Gordon Blaker, a fuse cutter similar to ones that would have been
used in Louisville mines;
5. From local historian Anne Dyni, research files and photos relating to the
Louisville area and Louisville families;
6. From Melanie Muckle, scans of four (4) photos showing Colacci's Restaurant
in 1985; and
7. From Dick Del Pizzo, the replica that he made of Louisville. Dick recently
brought the last 11 buildings to complete the replica. However, the deed of gift
that he signed states that changes may continue to be made to the replica.
B. Bridget stated that she didn't need to seek advice from the Commission with
respect to any donations at this time.
C. Museum Coordinator's Report:
1. Megan Huelman is now an official 20 -hour per week Museum Tech. Megan
will keep the Museum open two days a week and Bridget Bacon (BB) will keep
the Museum open another two days a week.
2. During the Summer Art Walks, the replica will be open to the public with a
talk. There were 78 visitors to the Museum for the Art Walk on May 1, 2015.
3. City Council approved a budget amendment that will include the extension
of fiber optic cable to the Museum.
4. Suzanne Janssen, the Arts Coordinator for Louisville, is working with others
in the County to coordinate programs about immigration in 2016. The Museum
may be able to participate in the project through programming on the theme
of immigration in Louisville.
5. Students at Monarch High School were looking for a volunteer project.
Marilyn Hunt from the Louisville History Foundation (LHF) and Bridget are
working with students to have them take photos of Main Street buildings for
the Museum and Foundation.
6. Paula Elrod (PE) is arranging to get name tags for new LHC members and
Museum volunteers.
7. The City of Louisville would like to install bike racks on the south side of the
Museum by the Coca -Cola sign. These racks would be some of the 100 new
bike racks being installed around town. (There was not enough advance notice
for this to be an agenda item for the Commission to weigh in on.)
D. Update on Museum Master Plan: (MMP): The MMP will include (1) the 2014
needs assessment report from Metcalfe, (2) an Interpretive Plan with a draft to
be completed by September, (3) an updated collections policy plan with a draft
to be completed by July; and (4) a Business Plan. $10,000 is being requested in
2
