Horticultural & Forestry Advisory Board
Minutes
March 6, 2008
local children. Ellen raised the question about a secondary date in case the
weather is bad on the 19th. No secondary date is scheduled. A drawing of the
new pergola could be up by that date and construction should be underway. A
number of ideas were discussed about local business or schools joining us to sell
treats to draw citizens to the event.

Arboretum -

Discuss status of Pergola Design and Proposed Start of Construction. -
Chris is preparing construction documents and will be sending it out to bid
within a week. The first week in April is a tentative date for construction to
begin. The board agreed that the paper should be notified when
construction begins.

Update on status of 501 c (3). - The board will have to hold election of
officers (by email?) and the articles of incorporation can be finished.

Continued Discussion on Engraved Bricks for Arboretum. - The bricks
have been chosen.

Tree ID signs: Theresa suggested a composite material for the posts and
possibly brass signs. Chris would like the posts set in concrete to prevent
removal. Jeff worried that digging holes for concrete might damage too
many roots.

Ongoing Development of HFAB's Section on City's Website. - Resolution
draft is linked on the front page.

Discussion Items for Next Meeting - Xeric Garden, Tree Preservation
Ordinance,

Adjourn - The meeting was adjourned at 7:55 p.m.
