WHEREAS, the City Council finds that a school and its community are integrally <br />important to each other, and that historic preservation and the educational needs of the school <br />need not be in conflict; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF LOUISVILLE, COLORADO THAT: <br />1. The Louisville City Council urges that the Boulder Valley School District Board <br />of Education and the School District Superintendent further evaluate and assess options for the <br />Louisville Middle School renovation project and pursue alternatives to the current project plan <br />that will accomplish the community's shared goals of preserving the historic portion of the <br />Louisville Middle School building, providing outstanding education facilities, and ensuring <br />school safety. <br />2. The Louisville City Council. urges the Boulder Valley School District Board of <br />Education and the School District SuperintE°ndent to obtain an independent peer review analysis <br />of preservation designs and cost options that would allow for preservation of the historic portions <br />of Louisville Middle School. <br />3. That, without compromising the urgency of the project, the historic portion of the <br />Louisville Middle School be preserved while such assessment and peer review is undertaken, and <br />that the Board of Education further evaluate and pursue a project timeline that will allow for <br />consideration of potential community fundraising for preservation. <br />4.
