Louisville City Council Meeting
February 18, 2003
Page 2

Approval of Contract with Boulder County Community Outreach
Program 2003 for Louisville Park Recycling Containers
Approval of Common Use Agreement for Trillium Open Space Lateral
Ditches

PUBLIC COMMENTS ON ITEMS NOT ON THE AGENDA

Linda Smith, 1941 Pearl Street, Boulder, CO, Director of Community Outreach for Eco-
cycle, addressed the single trash-hauler proposal and explained she worked with Eco-
cycle Executive Director Eric Lombardi, Deputy City Manager Julie Boyd, and LRCAB
in the investigation process. She stated the City of Louisville has an opportunity to
provide a service at a lower cost and applauded the Council's decision to hold a public
forum on the issue. She stated she looks forward to working with the City.

Nancy Love, 841 Front Street, Louisville, CO, thanked Council for meeting with DBA
representatives at the work session to review the concept of having a St. Patrick's Day
festival in the Downtown area. She reported on acquiring a list of performers who will
participate in the festival and contacting downtown restaurants that are normally closed
on Mondays, and receiving commitments that they will open on St. Patrick's Day, March
17th. She thanked Council for providing for the banners for the festival.

Doug Grinbergs, 538 W. Sycamore Circle, Louisville, CO, voiced his opposition to the
Klubert Warembourg Fishing Pond, stating there are better uses for the City's water. He
voiced his support for the single-hauler trash hauler proposal and recycling, stating it
would reduce the number of trucks in the neighborhood, noise, and air pollution, wear
and tear on the streets, accidents, and fuel consumption. He voiced his opposition to
motorized scooters, noting they are ridden on city streets - three abreast, on sidewalks
and in the open space. He voiced his opposition to aviation noise pollution and urged
Council to partner with other communities to address the issue.

COUNCIL INFORMATIONAL COMMENTS ON PERTINENT ITEMS NOT ON
THE AGENDA

Sisk explained Council has spoken the Congressman Udall relative to the aviation noise
and will meet with the Town of Superior Board relative to Jeffco Airport issues. Sisk
noted the St. Patrick's Day festival would be advertised on the DBA Web Page and he
thanked Nancy Love and the DBA for piloting the project. He stated the City looks
forward to partnering with Eco-cycle regardless of what decision is made on the single-
hauler trash proposal. He voiced his concern Eco-cycle may not be, as involved if the
City does not go forward with the single-hauler trash proposal.

REGULAR BUSINESS

2
