City„ <br />Louisville <br />COLORADO • SINCE 1878 <br />CITY COUNCIL COMMUNICATION <br />AGENDA ITEM 11 <br />SUBJECT: <br />DATE: <br />ANNUAL REPORT – LIBRARY BOARD OF TRUSTEES <br />SEPTEMBER 8, 2015 <br />PRESENTED BY: LIBRARY BOARD TRUSTEEES PAUL KARLZEN, JEANNIE <br />SCHUMAN, ALICIA MAHONEY <br />LIST HIGHLIGHTS AND SUCESSES OF THE PAST YEAR: <br />Strategic Plan goal: Promote Literacy- <br />• Distribution of `One Book 4 Colorado' title to area four - year -olds <br />• Support for this year's `On The Same Page' titles, Being Mortal and Benediction <br />• Maintenance and stocking of the three Board - sponsored `Little Libraries' <br />Strategic Plan goal: Build Community <br />• Continuously reviewing Library policies and Strategic Plan <br />• Partnering with the Library Foundation and Zonta International to provide free <br />books to children at Community Food Shares <br />• Mapping current Library card holders and identifying geographic areas where <br />Library use is low <br />• Educating community members about Library resources and services through <br />two new flyers included in the City's Community Update and the Town of <br />Superior's website <br />• Supporting targeted Library marketing at Balfour and Back to School nights <br />• Adding content to the Board's page of the Library's website <br />• Collaborating with the Library Foundation Board to share news about projects <br />and to support the Foundation's efforts to equip the Library's Makerspace <br />• Hosting the Board's annual appreciation luncheon for Library staff <br />WHAT WORKED WELL FOR YOUR BOARD THIS PAST YEAR? <br />Library Board members work very well together! As advocates for patrons and helpers <br />to library staff, we know and celebrate the quality of what our Library does and provides <br />to our community, and we look for ways to enhance those offerings. <br />The Board continuously reviewed Library policy and updated the Library's Strategic <br />Plan, as it does each year.
