LSVL. TIMES 2.17/93

Griffiths read by title only Ordinance No. 1096, Series 1993, "An
ordinance amending Chapter 17.48 of the Louisville Municipal Code
to provide for six members on the Board of Adjustment, establishing
a residency requirement and eliminating the position of associate
member."

Griffiths stated that the title is very descriptive of the content
of the ordinance and it is consistent with the by-laws that were
previously considered by the Council and approved at an earlier
meeting.

Beverly Campbell, 586 Cleveland Avenue, Louisville, Colorado, spoke
in opposition to a portion of the proposed by-law change, the
increase in membership. She believed that the change in the number
of Board members was proposed for the wrong reason. The previous
Board had a difficult time getting the five (5) regular Board
members to attend on a consistent basis. She felt that a better
solution would be to have an attendance requirement, such as: any
Board member who misses more than two (2) meetings in a year would
automatically be replaced by the Council and someone more committed
to serving would be appointed. She also believed that increasing
the number of Board members from five (5) to six (6) without also
changing the number of votes required to grant a variance, makes a
variance easier to acquire.

Davidson called for anyone else in the audience who wished to speak
on Ordinance No. 1086.

NONE
