L
Cityof
Louisville
COLORADO • SINCE 1878
Memorandum
To: Historical Commission
From: Bridget Bacon, Museum Coordinator
Date: October 27, 2015
Re: Museum Coordinator's Report
The Friday hours when the Museum is open recently changed with the changing of the seasons.
Instead of being open from 3 PM to 8 PM on Fridays to coincide with the Friday Street Faires
and Art Walks, the Friday hours for Fall and Winter will be 10 AM to 3 PM. This means that the
Museum is currently open 10 AM to 3 PM on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.
I hope that you have all had a chance to see the exhibit in the Library lobby that Megan
Huelman put together on the "Pirates" of Louisville High School! This exhibit topic tied in with
the Louisville Historian and Brown Bag about the old high school at Garfield and Walnut.
I'm sorry to report that Gladys Levis -Pilz recently resigned from the Historical Commission due
to travel that will be required for a likely upcoming move out of Louisville, and Lynn Koglin
resigned from being a director and treasurer of the History Foundation.
Next year, 2016, marks the 30th anniversary of the opening of the Louisville Historical Museum.
The lead article of the next Louisville Historian will consist of compelling stories and memories
from several past and present Louisville residents. The Brown Bag on December 3rd (12 -1 PM,
Library meeting room) will relate to this topic and will pose the question "Why Do We Remember
What We Remember ?" I plan to explore the subject of what kinds of memories stick with us, as
well as what types of family and community stories are most likely to survive.
I plan to soon mail out several hundred postcards with membership renewal reminders to our
members. We hope to have a high rate of renewal again this year.
Museum Visitors Report (these statistics represent visits to the Museum itself, and not inquiries
that come in by email or phone): August visitors: 275; September visitors: 325; YTD: 2182.
