Board of Adjustment
Meeting Minutes
August 19, 2015
Page 3of6
Presentation from Applicant:
Greg Hausen, P.E., spoke briefly stating the project will not adversely impact the
floodplain.
Public Present in Favor of Application:
Evan Pensic, 525 Ford Drive, Boulder, Colorado, stated he is in support of this request.
He asked if the board had any questions regarding how the raised beds will be
constructed.
Malmquist asked how tall they are.
Pensic stated 18 inches.
Malmquist asked if they will be anchored.
Pensic stated the soil weighs them down but they will also be anchored by rebar.
Meseck asked if the entire 32 beds were to be built as raised beds would it impact the
floodplain
Robinson stated the review anticipated all 32 beds as raised beds, so there is no impact
determined.
Public Hearing Closed / Board Discussion:
Meseck entered a letter from Christina Stanton into record. She was in opposition of
the plan as described.
Malmquist stated Stanton's biggest concern was she believes this will have a flood plain
issue. He stated he believes in the report provided by Hausen and does not believe this
will have an impact on the existing flood plain.
Ewy stated the letter talks about natural flood plain, but this flood plain has already been
modified. She stated the engineering approach was very conservative and the project
was looked at all angles. She also stated the velocities aren't that high and with the
anchoring the structures should be controlled.
Malmquist agrees with Ewy.
Fuller agrees.
Ewy made a motion to approve. Malmquist seconded the motion.
Roll Call Vote:
Chris Fuller
Yes
Leslie Ewy
Yes
James Stuart
Absent
Carl Borrmann, Vice Chair
Absent
Andrew Meseck, Chair
Yes
Gunnar Malmquist
Yes
Motion passed:
4 to 0
