In 2012, Planning and Building Safety Divisions started a joint venture into
the digitizing of the departmental documents. City Council approved
$20,000 in the 2012 Budget to get this project under way. Staff has been
working with S Corporation on the formatting of LaserFiche and the
digitizing of documents. City Council has approved $20,000 of Building
Safety's 2016 budget, to continue the digitizing of departmental
documents. To date, there following have been scanned:
• 3,887 permits and plan sets
• All contractor's licensed which expired in 2013 -2015 and 825
current contractor licenses
II. Staff has been working the IT and other City departments regarding a new
City Wide software system with Tyler Technologies. Staff started the
implamentation process for this software system last July with an
expected go live date of July 1, 2016. This process requires a lot of staff
time and dedication while still maintaining the Departments dedication to
customer service.
III. As of January 20, 2015, the Deparment offers over the counter plan
review on minor permits every Tuesday morning between 8 -12. Since that
time, staff has reviewed approx. 259 permits. This has cut back the plan
review timeframe from 3 weeks to a matter of one morning to complete the
review process.
IV. The Comprehensive Plan Policy E -3.3 states:
"Strive to remain current with the following model building codes from the
International Code Council: International Energy Conservation Code,
International Green Construction Code."
