Historic Preservation Commission <br />Meeting Minutes <br />January 11, 2016 <br />Page 2 of 5 <br />Welcome New Commissioners <br />Haley welcomed Chuck Thomas and Cyndi Thomas. <br />Discussion — Capstone Project <br />Trice stated staff applied for a capstone project. <br />Felicity Selvoski, grad student, stated she is pursuing degrees in historic <br />preservation and urban planning. Her project is a demolition survey of the City of <br />Louisville. <br />Haley asked the board if they had suggestions on what they should look at. <br />Fahey asked if Bridget Bacon would be part of the project. <br />Trice stated she would. <br />Cyndi Thomas asked if it was only Old Town. <br />Trice stated for the most part, but it might include areas outside of Old Town. <br />Fahey congratulated staff on receiving the project. <br />Discussion — Citizen Survey <br />Trice presented the information from staff's report. She stated the last survey <br />from 2012 is on the website. She said this year's survey will have a focus on <br />preservation, so if the board has any questions or issues they would like the <br />survey to include please let us know. <br />Stewart asked what the difference was between a policy question as opposed to <br />another type of question, and would we be able to ask other questions. <br />Trice stated it is not primarily policy questions. <br />Fahey asked if we should put in any discussion regarding lengthening the tax. <br />Koertje stated he is hesitant in putting it out there because he is not sure if many <br />people know what the tax has done. He said there was a question in the 2008 <br />survey, but it was pretty abstract. He said it had a fairly positive result but is <br />worried what a negative result would do. <br />Discussion ensued as the board looked through previous survey results. <br />Fahey stated there won't be another survey before the tax sunsets. <br />Trice stated there will be more time to poll the City before it sunsets. <br />
