Business Retention & Development Committee <br />Meeting Minutes <br />February 1, 2016 <br />Page 4 of 5 <br />DeJong met with CTC Metro District and Etkin Johnson. Etkin Johnson will pay 100% <br />for design study for connector. Metro District would like continued discussion. <br />Commissioner Menaker pointed out this was not a Council priority and not funded in the <br />5 year CIP list. <br />Major components of $18m Hwy 42 improvements not funded. <br />Council member Lipton encourages Metro District to do study so Council can see <br />results. <br />Mike Kranzdorf said this project should have BRaD's strong support. <br />DeJong will draft a letter stating BRaD's support for Metro District to do study so Council <br />can have information. <br />RETENTION VISITS <br />Instant Imprints <br />Mostly a business to business operation. They were concerned the business <br />community does not know their product offerings. Parking lot is crowded and they have <br />signage issues. Owner wishes residents understood paying sales tax is good for <br />community, rather than buyin online to avoid sales tax. <br />Papa Murphy's <br />Owner is optimistic and concerned. Friday night is a big night for pizza business. Said <br />business is dead on Friday nights during Street Faire. He is the only sales tax <br />generating business in that strip. <br />Community Food Share <br />They have a new director. She is trying to network and coordinate with others. Director <br />mentioned RTD access would be good for clients of Community Food Share. They <br />have a large conference room they are willing to allow community to use. <br />Boulder Creek Homes <br />Growing would like to expand to accommodate all employees in one building but <br />parking is an issue. They are concerned about downtown parking. <br />Old Santa Fe <br />Good meeting. Spent funds to move to new building. Does not have problems recruiting <br />new employees. Existing employees help with recruiting new employees. Has signage <br />issues and said lack of signage is hurting business. Less walk -in traffic from hotels. <br />Common theme on McCaslin is signage. <br />REPORT FROM COMMITTEE MEMBERS: <br />None. <br />5 <br />
