City Council <br />Meeting Minutes <br />March 8, 2016: <br />Page 3 of 12 <br />and assistance from City Council, the terrific work done by all of City staff, and the <br />residents who serve on Boards and Commissions and support the City in many ways. <br />NATIONAL NUTRITION MONTH PROCLAMATION <br />Mayor Muckle read the proclamation and presented it to Katie Beasley from the Senior <br />Services Staff. <br />Katie Beasley, Senior Services Staff, Tricia Morgan, Meal Site Coordinator, as well as <br />Lesley Jackson from Coal Creek Meals on Wheels and Debbie Fahey were in <br />attendance. <br />Supervisor Beasley reported National Nutrition Month® is a nutrition education and <br />information campaign created annually in March by the Academy of Nutrition and <br />Diabetics. The campaign focuses attention on the importance of making informed food <br />choices and developing sound eating and physical activity habits. <br />Senior Services within Parks and Recreation and Coal Creek Meals on Wheels are <br />helping promote the importance of making healthy nutrition choices for older adults <br />during the congregate lunch at the Brooks Cafe at the Louisville Recreation /Senior <br />Center and delivering meals at home. <br />In 2015, the Brooks Cafe Congregate Meal Site at the Recreation /Senior Center served <br />8,970 meals to older adults, compared to 8,056 meals served in 2014. <br />Lesley Jackson thanked Council for supporting Coal Creek Meals on Wheels. Coal <br />Creek Meals on Wheels has moved to Josephine Commons and serves meal on site <br />there as well as delivering. The meals provide not only nutrition but socialization. She <br />noted they serve anyone in need, not just seniors. <br />UPDATE: ONE ACTION 2016: ARTS + IMMIGRATION <br />PROJECT <br />Mayor Muckle called for a staff presentation. <br />Suzanne Janssen, Cultural Arts and Special Events Coordinator introduced One Action <br />Project Manager, Manuela Sifuentes who thanked Council for their support and <br />encouraged the community to engage in the conversation about immigration through <br />the upcoming events. <br />Cultural Arts and Special Events Coordinator Janssen reported on Saturday, January <br />23 the Longmont Museum hosted the One Action 2016: Arts + Immigration Project Kick - <br />Off Celebration. This One Action 2016 Project is a yearlong, arts - based, countywide <br />project that invites cultural, arts, immigrant and educational organizations to draw on <br />their individual expertise to develop exhibitions, performances, presentations, music, <br />
