IX. City Council Update -Frost Yarnell not present.
X. City Staff Update -Kathy M./Julie S
Julie S noted that requests for Art Center space (for the rest of the calendar year
from June thru December) are due April 18, 2008. She will reserve some "blanket
dates" to cover requests not made by that date.
Julie K requested November 14t" or 15t" for silent movie night.
A poster enclosure for outside the Art Center was discussed. This could be a
potential Eagle Scout project. The vision is that it would look something like the
trail kiosk at Davidson Mesa. Alternatively a glass case enclosure could be put
inside the vestibule area of the Art Center. Posters should be removed from the
windows for security reasons because they block the view.
XI. Event Schedule -Julie K./Maryan
Marion needs to know about upcoming events by the 2nd Wednesday of
the month. This way she can get them into the calendar in time for publicity.
P.R. The LMS Poetry Slam was in the paper and the City newsletter.
The newsletter mailing list is now at 625 recipients.
Coffeehouse concert had a great turnout of 93 people. It was well attended but
there was too much intermission time. Try to get an agreement with artists to a 5-
10minute intermission.
Salsa event was the best yet. See Event Report for details.
Marion J requested that a future discussion take place regarding in-kind
procedures, and what should and should not be included in these items. This will
be added as an agenda item for the May 15 2008 meeting.
Don A -Poetry Slam was an overwhelming success/collaboration. They needed
some prompting to get participation. YAB showed "infections" enthusiasm. The
Open Mic portion of the evening was a huge success. Frost gave an update at
the City Council session afterward and wants to see this as an annual event.
Participation will need to increase in order to make that happen.
Andy L is taking over as liaison for coffee house concerts. LAA is prepared to
hang art for these concerts for the entire weekend.
